Preface
To improve the effectiveness of BRAC programmes and support new innovations, the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) was established in 1975 as a small unit within the framework of BRAC. Over the years this small unit has gradually grown and expanded its activities in different areas of research. To conduct research in multi-disciplinary areas, the division has now nine research units with more than 75 researchers and a good number of full-time/part-time national and foreign consultants. Since inception, RED has published more than 1,300 research reports and quite a large number of journal articles, books, book chapters, monographs, working papers, etc. Most of these unpublished reports and formal publications are available in the website (www.brac.net/research). This brochure aims to inform the interested researchers, policy-makers, donors, and other individuals/groups about current and past research activities of RED along with academic qualifications of the researchers currently working in nine different research units of RED. We hope that the information (updated on 31 March 2012) provided in this brochure will contribute towards growing greater interest and awareness of the researchers and the policy-makers about the research conducted by RED which will lead to further development of research activities of the division. Finally, the contribution of the RED researchers and support staff who helped in preparing this brochure is greatly acknowledged. |
