Local non-government organizations (NGOs) are the major partners of the government of Bangladesh (GOB) for implementing NNP (National Nutrition Project) programme at the grassroots level in rural Bangladesh. BRAC is one of the partners working in 53 upazilas out of 105 to implement the NNP programme. BRAC NNP programme continuously keeps records/data on the outcomes of interventions. BRAC has recently decided to assess the whole process of the food supplementation component of the programme.
This study was undertaken to explore the process of food supplementation in BRAC NNP. The specific objectives of this study are to explore the:
- Selection process of programme recipients
- Quality and quantity of food in packets for supplementation
- Supplement preparation and storage
- Acceptability of food supplementation among the target groups
- Supplementation production and distribution system
