Syed Masud Ahmed has been working at the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) as Research Coordinator since April 2003. He joined RED in June 1992 as Medical Officer (Research). He also worked for ICDDR,B for more than three years as Clinical Research Fellow/Clinical Research Officer, and Ministry of Health, Iran for more than five years as Medical Officer. He has obtained Ph.D in Public Health from Karolinska Institutet University, Stockholm, Sweden in 2005, and MPH from National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine, University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1991. He has postgraduate training in Population and International Health (as Devid E. Bell Fellow) from Centre for Population and Development Studies, Harvard University, Boston, USA in 1997. His research interests include studying the impact of microcredit-based development interventions on the health and well-being of the poor especially the ultra poor, and exploring the mechanisms of such impact; gender and health; health equity, and improving health system’s ability to reach the poorest of the poor and other disadvantaged populations in the society; human resources for health, non-communicable diseases and malaria. He has authored 12 books/monographs/working papers and has 22 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 5 book chapters. Hasan Shareef Ahmed has been working at the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) as Chief of Editing and Publication since 12 January 1995 and also as Coordinator, Knowledge Management Unit since June 2009. Before joining BRAC he worked for ICDDR,B for more than 15 years in various capacities related to editing, scholarly publishing, and dissemination. He has obtained masters degree in Management and bachelor degree with honors in Management from the University of Dhaka. He is also a law graduate. Md. Abdul Alim has been working at the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) as Research Associate since May 2006. He joined RED in December 1999 as Young Researcher. Narayan Chandra Das has been working at the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) as Research Fellow since April 2009. He joined RED in April 2007 as a Senior Research Associate. Fazlul Karim has been working at the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) as Senior Research Fellow since September 1997. He joined RED on 1st November 1986 as Area Manager (Research). Before joining RED, he worked in the BRAC Sulla Integrated Development Project and Health Programme for over 8 years at different hierarchies. He has obtained PhD in Medical Science from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden in 2009. He also obtained MPH degree from the Royal Tropical Institute (RTI), Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1989. Samir Ranjan Nath has been working at the Research and Evaluation Division (RED) as Research Coordinator since July 2008. He joined RED in January 1991 as Young Researcher. Before joining BRAC he worked for Worldview International Foundation for two-and-a-half months as Research Associate. He has obtained masters degree in Statistics from Jahangirnagar University in 1990 and in Educational Research Methodology from the University of Oxford in 1997. His research interest includes pre-primary, primary and basic education; students’ assessment; and supplementary private tutoring. He also worked as Feature Editor and Special correspondent of The Daily Janakantha, The Daily Muktakantho, The Bangladesh Observer, The Monthly Computer Bichitra, fortnightly Anannya. He has professionla expertise in ICT media. He was the contributory Editor of monthly The Computing. He was also the Special Correspondent of monthly The Computer Bhuhan, The Computer and Electronic Journal, and The monhtly Computer Jagat. He has obtained Masters in Psychology (Specialization in Counseling and Guidance) from the University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1982. His writing interest includes women empowerment and information and communication technology, child rights issues and violence against women during war. He has published a good number of articles and features in different dailies, weeklies, and fortnightlies; he is also a science fiction writer of Bangladesh. She is a PhD candidate and has obtained Masters of Philosophy in Political Science from The Graduate School and University Center, City University of New York, USA in 2009. She has also obtained masters in International Relations from City College, City University of New York in 2004, and Bachelor of Arts (Dual Major: Political Science and Computer Science) from Colgate University, New York in 2002. Her research interest includes political participation, local government, collective action, post-conflict issues and international organizations. Mohammad Rafi is a Senior Research Fellow at RED and is coordinating the Social Development research unit. He received a PhD in Sociology from Emory University, USA. He has published both in national and international peer reviewed journals on research methodology, social impact of BRAC, and group dynamics.
